'Creating Connections for emotional wellbeing'

About Me

My picture cc.jpg

Hello and a warm welcome.

I started Creative Connections Therapeutic Services stemmed from many years of practice experience, passion and training to support children, young people and families therapeutically.  Before setting up in private practice, I practised as a Senior Practitioner in adoption supporting children, young people and families moving through this process.  I also created and managed a small team of life story book practitioners, quality assuring books and developing a consistent approach to this extremely important element of practice. I also designed and led training on sibling assessments, life story books, direct work with children and young people and delivered this to staff, foster carers and University students undertaking their Social Work degrees and professional practice.

As a Certified and Registered Play Therapist and having undertaken further training, this has given me so many opportunities to work with children, young people and families offering a wide range of therapeutic interventions.  I practice from an attachment and trauma informed perspective, using my creative tool kit to adapt to each client thereby helping clients to communicate their inner experiences and help to heal their painful pasts and hurtful histories. I work with a number of public, individual and private providers offering my services such as therapy, consultancy and experiential training.

My first degree was in Psychology and Criminology BSc from Coventry University, followed by an MA in Social Work from Warwick University. Whilst practising as a Social Worker, I completed the Pg Cert as a Practice Teacher/Educator supporting students on their journey in Social Work. I achieved my Play Therapy diploma from Leeds Beckett University and began to develop myself in other attachment based therapeutic interventions such as Autplay Therapy® ; PgDip Therapeutic Life Story Work; Parent-Child Attachment Play; Theraplay® and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). I am also a Certified Creative Clinical Supervisor supporting both trainees and experienced Play and Creative Arts Therapists.

I am a registered member of Social Work England; the Professional Standards Authority (PSA); British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and listed as a member and provider of Therapeutic Life Story Work on TLSWi.

I am also listed as a therapeutic provider with the Adoption Support Fund.

I hold an enhanced current DBS certificate with update provision, Professional Liability and Indemnity insurance. I adhere to the ethics and values of my practice and I am clinically supervised.
