Laura holds valuable practice experience of therapeutically preparing children to move on to their permanent or transitional placement whether this be adoptive, foster, return to immediate or wider family members/kinship carers. Laura promotes the process and importance of working together, ensuring that the child's needs remain the focus.   

Laura can undertake comprehensive assessments of therapeutic need, examining individual and group therapeutic holistic needs, underpinned through elements of therapeutic direct work.  This includes preparing siblings for separation, reunification by supporting them to understand their care plans and decisions made in their best interests. Laura also work with children to help them process parental divorce, separation, loss and bereavement.

Laura is passionate about learning and developing others and offers experiential training to Local Authorities, Schools, independent providers and families in the areas of:
  • Using the creative arts with children and young people.
  • Therapeutic life story work.
  • Life story books (practice and guidance).
  • Transitional - moving on practice and guidance.
  • Sibling assessment training and good practice.

As an experienced Practice Educator, Laura holds many years experience of supervising students whilst in their practice placements and  is  able to offer this service to Universities and independent organisations.

  • Consultations to professionals working within the area of fostering and adoption.
  • Advice and support to Educational providers.

Laura offers supervision to practitioners undertaking therapeutic life story work /direct work face to face and/or via skype.
